Job summary

Vattenfall is seeking a PMO Director for its largest offshore wind project. You will build the PMO structure, govern reporting and drive high-level decision making in collaboration with the CEO and project management team.

You will lead a ~10-person PMO, align planning, cost, risk, scope and QHSE, and develop processes and tools to deliver clear project insights. The role requires extensive PMO experience in large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience within PMO, Project Controls or project management in large-scale projects (typically 10+ years).
  • Led PMO or project support teams or similar and know how to build collaboration.
  • Solid people leadership experience, including leading and developing diverse teams.
  • Experience working closely with senior leadership and ability to influence constructively.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear communication and decision material.
  • Experience from infrastructure, energy or offshore projects (advantage).
  • Experience with multi-stakeholder environments and Joint Ventures (advantage).
  • Degree in engineering, business or related field.
  • Knowledge of structured project execution and stage-gate models and PM processes (PMP, IPMA).

Job description

Do you want to create the structure, governance and insights that help steer one of our most ambitious offshore wind projects?

As PMO Director, you will play a central role in creating structure, alignment and strong decision-making across a large-scale offshore wind project, including a Joint Venture setup. You will work closely with the Project CEO and Project Management Team as a trusted partner, translating complexity into clear direction.

Business Area Wind

We develop, build and operate wind farms – onshore and offshore – to accelerate the growth of renewable energy. We combine international expertise with innovation to deliver world-class projects, contributing every day to a more sustainable energy system.

The role will be organized in our Project Support function in Offshore Wind and be working in our biggest Offshore Project in a leadership role.

Your role

You lead and develop the Project Management Office in the project, ensuring strong governance, high-quality reporting and close collaboration across the project organisation. Together with your team, you create the foundation for clear and well-informed decisions

In this role, you will:

  • Drive executive reporting to senior management and Boards, turning complex project data into clear insights
  • Ensure readiness for governance processes such as tollgates, decision forums and escalation points
  • Support through structured analysis, scenario development and recommendations and act as trusted partner to the CEO and senior stakeholders influencing direction and supporting decision-making at the highest level
  • Create alignment across planning, cost, risk, scope and QHSE to provide a consistent project overview
  • Develop and improve PMO processes, tools and ways of working throughout the project lifecycle
  • Build and lead a PMO team of approximately 10 colleagues with diverse professional background, fostering collaboration, clarity and continuous development

Qualifications
Your profile

You bring experience from complex project environments and know how to create clarity across many stakeholders. You are comfortable working closely with senior leadership and communicating complex topics in a simple and structured way

We expect that you:

  • Have extensive experience within PMO, Project Controls or project management in large-scale projects (typically 10+ years)
  • Have led PMO or project support teams or similar and know how to build strong collaboration
  • Bring solid people leadership experience, including leading and developing diverse teams
  • Have experience working closely with senior leadership and are able to influence and challenge constructively
  • Are able to translate complex information into clear communication and decision material
  • Bring experience from infrastructure, energy or offshore projects (an advantage)
  • Have worked with multi-stakeholder environments and in Joint Ventures (an advantage)
  • Hold a degree in engineering, business or a related field
  • Have strong knowledge of structured project execution and stage-gate models and project management processes (e.g. PMP, IPMA)

You bring a leadership style that creates direction, trust and collaboration, and you are comfortable navigating in both team leadership and senior stakeholder environments
