Job summary

ID-ware is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead design, build, and upkeep of our cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure using Terraform. You will own solution architecture, ensure security and scalability, and collaborate with the Platform team.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience, a degree in a related field, and fluent English. Remote work is not specified; expect a role based in the Netherlands with on-site collaboration.

What keeps the services behind a security company online, day after day, with almost no downtime? At ID-ware, it is the Platform Engineering team. They build and look after the cloud systems that colleagues and clients rely on every day.

As Senior Platform Engineer, you will lead the design, build and upkeep of our infrastructure on AWS and Azure using Terraform. You will keep it secure, reliable and scalable, and you will own solution architecture. You will work closely with the Platform team.

What you will do

• Lead the design, build and maintenance of ID-ware and client infrastructure in the cloud, managed in Terraform
• Keep AWS and Azure infrastructure secure, reliable and scalable
• Work with the Platform team to find and fix infrastructure issues at the root cause
• Own solution architecture and respond to requests from colleagues who may have limited technical knowledge
• Support internal operations in Azure and Entra, and customer-facing applications that run mostly on AWS
• Take part in the on-call rotation for infrastructure that supports customer-facing applications
• Support internal security audits and client assessments
• Act on client feedback passed on by project managers, and contribute to new projects as directed by the Platform team manager
• Provide guidance and best practices for using cloud services

What success looks like

• All AWS and Azure infrastructure is managed in Terraform, and is secure, stable and scalable
• Incidents are resolved quickly at the root cause, and on-call work is handled reliably
• Security audits and client assessments pass without major findings
• The Platform team works to clear, consistent standards that you set and share
• Project managers and colleagues see you as a credible technical partner

Your profile

Experience and education

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role
• Fluent English

Technical skills

• Experience designing solution architecture for cloud platforms
• Expert proficiency in Terraform, including using and implementing it
• Strong understanding of AWS and Azure services, and comfort working in both
• Expert knowledge of Linux and Unix systems
• Expert knowledge of identity and access management systems
• Experience with cloud security best practices
• Knowledge of how to make a product operationally ready
• Expert knowledge in troubleshooting and diagnosing platform issues
• Knowledge of databases

Ways of working

• Clear and effective communicator, including with colleagues at all levels of the organisation
• Proactive and self-motivated, and comfortable pushing objectives forward
• Collaborative approach when working with the Platform team and project managers
• Security-conscious approach to design
• Patient and clear when explaining technical choices to colleagues with limited technical knowledge

Nice to have

• AWS certification, for example AWS Solutions Architect or AWS DevOps Engineer
• Experience developing APIs using Node.js or Python
• Experience with Github Enterprise and Github Actions
• Working Knowledge of Jira Atlassian
• Knowledge of SQL Server
• Dutch language skills
