As part of our Commercial Logistics team, the Planning Coordinator plays a key role in planning and coordinating rail transportation flows across Europe, ensuring smooth execution, effective disruption management, and close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing transportation plans, monitoring operational performance, and driving alignment between logistics, execution, and commercial teams. Your ability to maintain overview in a dynamic environment and proactively solve challenges will be essential to keeping our supply chain moving efficiently.
Your Impact
Rail Planning & Transportation Coordination
- Plan and coordinate rail transportation flows across Europe.
- Develop and maintain transportation schedules in alignment with business requirements.
- Coordinate train movements, loading schedules, and transportation slots with operational stakeholders.
- Ensure efficient utilization of available transportation capacity.
Operational Monitoring & Disruption Management
- Monitor transportation performance and shipment progress.
- Identify delays, disruptions, and operational risks proactively.
- Re‑plan transportation schedules when circumstances change.
- Coordinate mitigation actions to minimize operational and commercial impact.
Stakeholder Management & Business Alignment
- Act as a key liaison between Commercial, Logistics, Rail Execution, and external service providers.
- Align transportation planning with customer requirements and business priorities.
- Participate in operational review meetings and cross‑functional planning discussions.
- Foster strong working relationships to ensure seamless execution across the supply chain.
Data Management & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain planning systems and ensure accuracy of operational data.
- Analyze transportation performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Support process standardization and optimization initiatives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects within the Commercial Logistics organization.
Your Profile
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (HBO/University) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in rail transportation planning within Europe.
- Proven experience coordinating international rail transport flows, schedules, and transportation capacity.
- Experience managing operational disruptions, replanning activities, and stakeholder communication in a logistics environment.
- Experience within agricultural commodities, bulk logistics, or multimodal transportation is considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical mindset, learning agility, and ability to perform effectively in a dynamic operational environment.
