Job summary

Delft University of Technology invites applications for a 48‑month PhD position to advance a multi‑scale assessment framework for circular and climate‑resilient building construction within the Horizon Europe AURORA project.

You will map technologies, develop a digital database for renovation pathways, and apply the framework to a Dutch urban neighborhood, collaborating with EU partners and public authorities.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in Building Sciences (Architectural Engineering, Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related).
• Knowledge in circular construction, resilience analysis, building technologies or building performance.
• Experience with multi-scale approaches linking materials, components, buildings and urban systems.
• Knowledge of GIS, digital workflows or programming (Python) advantageous.
• Excellent English oral and written communication; Dutch a plus.
• Ability to work independently and in teams; collaborative networks.
• Motivated to develop innovative methods for circular/resilient transformation.

Responsibilities

• Map integrated construction and renovation strategies across typologies and conditions.
• Develop a catalogue of pre-evaluated circular/resilient configurations.
• Integrate technologies and pathways into parametric datasets and digital planning workflows.
• Apply framework to a Dutch urban neighborhood case study.
