Job summary

TU Delft seeks a PhD candidate in the Biomechanical Engineering Department to develop computational models and video-based tools for measuring hand movement in home environments. You will work within the Computational Biomechanics (Seth) and Neuromuscular Control (Mugge) Labs, contributing to open-source repositories and broader Open Science initiatives.

The position supports mentoring and teaching activities, with opportunities to present at conferences and participate in exchange programs.

Qualifications

  • MSc in engineering or similar discipline by the start date of the position.
  • Experience with mechanical modeling and simulation.
  • Experience in computer programming/scripting (e.g., C++, Python, Matlab).
  • Experience collecting human experimental data (movement, video, or similar).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply computational models and video-based tools to capture hand movement and function.
  • Work with video data, musculoskeletal models, and pose estimation algorithms.
  • Contribute to open source and data repositories affiliated with the program and TU Delft’s Open Science initiative.
  • Collaborate within the Biomechanical Engineering Department and related labs to advance home-based assessment of RA.
