The University of Amsterdam invites applications for a PhD position in complex dynamical systems within the Korteweg‑de Vries Institute for Mathematics. Working under Prof. Han Peters, you will study measure-theoretic descriptions of chaotic behaviour in dynamical systems and contribute to an active research group.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Mathematics, or comparable.
  • Willingness to learn Dutch and interact with researchers.
  • Professional command of English.
  • Some experience with programming and/or scientific computing software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Find a measure-theoretic description of chaotic behaviour in complex dynamical systems under supervision.
  • Interact with local and international colleagues, and present results at seminars and colloquia.
  • Teach courses per semester and supervise undergraduate and master projects where appropriate.
