TU Delft is offering a PhD position in Scalable Lipid Nanoparticle Purification Technologies within SPARC, a cross-disciplinary program spanning Chemical Engineering and Process & Energy. Qualifications

  • MSc or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nanotechnology or related field.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to work across computational and experimental domains.
  • Excellent English communication and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in CFD simulations or pharmaceutical downstream processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Compute CFD simulations to study flow, diffusion and filtration in tangential flow filtration systems.
  • Develop correlations to model fouling build-up and its impact on filtration capacity.
  • Design novel flow geometries to maximize throughput and minimize mechanical stress on LNPs.
  • Explore modularisation options for quick replacement of filtration system components.
  • Experimentally verify alternative membranes for LNP purification.
  • Experimentally verify modularisation options for the purification train, including quick connectors.
