AMOLF in the Netherlands invites applications for a First Stage Researcher (R1) position in physical chemistry and ultrafast spectroscopy. The project aims to understand water and dissolved species near electrode surfaces under bias using femtosecond surface sum-frequency generation to reveal structural dynamics.

You will work closely with the Ultrafast Spectroscopy group led by Prof. Bakker and collaborate with the University of Amsterdam theory group and Leiden electrochemistry group.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Physics or Physical Chemistry.
  • Experience with ultrafast spectroscopy preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Study the molecular structure of aqueous electrolyte solutions near electrode surfaces using ultrafast spectroscopic techniques.
  • Identify reactive intermediates with time-resolved surface sum-frequency generation.
  • Collaborate with the Ultrafast Spectroscopy group and theory/ electrochemistry groups at partner universities.
