Job summary

Maastricht University invites applications for a PhD Candidate position in reducing avoidance by altering threat imagery in panic disorder. You will join an interdisciplinary team spanning psychology, neuroscience and clinical psychology to investigate imagery rescripting techniques and mechanistic learning processes.

The role combines experimental and clinical research, CO2 inhalation procedures, SCED designs, and advanced statistics.

Qualifications

  • You have a (research) master’s degree in a relevant field, including psychology, health sciences, biomedical sciences, or neuroscience.
  • Experience with designing and conducting experimental research and interpreting data.
  • Strong interest in experimental and clinical research on anxiety-related disorders, learning, mental imagery.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute qualitative and quantitative studies using a CO2 inhalation procedure.
  • Implement findings in a single-case experimental design (SCED).
  • Test panic-prone participants and those with panic disorder.
  • Apply advanced statistical and computational modelling techniques to analyse SCED data.
  • Collaborate with clinical partners and interdisciplinary researchers.
  • Disseminate findings via publications and presentations.
  • Contribute to open science and methodological rigor.
