Job summary

UvA in Amsterdam invites applications for a PhD position focusing on the evolution and processing of negation in language. You will work with an international team of (psycholinguists) on data collection, EEG methods, and fieldwork in Ecuador, forming part of the ACLC and ILLC ecosystems.

The role includes completing a PhD thesis, presenting results, taking part in training programs, and teaching duties up to 0.2 FTE.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Psychology or similar.
  • Excellent research and academic English skills demonstrated by a Master thesis.
  • Strong interest in fieldwork/field-based experimental methods.
  • Conversational proficiency in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Submission of a PhD thesis within the appointment period.
  • Present intermediate research results at workshops and conferences.
  • Participation in Research School and Faculty of Humanities PhD training programmes.
  • (Co-)teaching BA-level courses (max 0.2 fte per year).
  • Conduct field-based experiments in Ecuador.
  • Organise knowledge dissemination activities.
  • Participate in project meetings and training sessions.
