Descripción de la vacante

Delft University of Technology invites applications for a PhD researcher role focusing on Bayesian modelling and counterfactual analysis to predict nanoparticle transport in human tissue. You will join a European Horizon Europe SYNERGIE project and collaborate with leading partners, contributing to open-source software and regulatory dialogue.

The position starts January 2027, with 4 years of doctoral employment under two contracts and an extensive training program through the TU Delft Graduate

Formación

  • MSc in applied mathematics, computational science, physics, systems biology, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • Demonstrated experience building and solving ODE or dynamical systems models.
  • Demonstrated experience with Bayesian inference in a probabilistic programming framework such as PyMC, Stan or NumPyro.
  • Strong scientific programming in Python.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsabilidades

  • Build a mechanistic model of how particles move between nine human tissues, and calibrate it against experimental data using Bayesian inference (in silico).
  • Identify physical and chemical particle properties that govern tissue fate.
  • Develop counterfactual methods to suggest minimal changes for safety or reliability.
  • Release the model as open-source software and support its use in regulatory dialogue.
