Painter II position performing interior and exterior painting, staining, varnishing and lacquering for building surfaces. Responsibilities include preparing surfaces, erecting ladders, selecting matching paints, and protecting areas with coverings.
Requires attention to codes, standards and safety procedures. Minimum five years’ painting or related field experience preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid Mississippi Driver’s License required.
Summary Of Responsibilities: Responsible for applying coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings any repaired or unfinished surfaces in accordance with all building codes and standards of Jackson County policy and procedures.
Paint, clean, sand, and scrape surfaces in preparation for assigned painting task. Erect scaffolding or set up ladders to perform tasks above ground level. Select premixed paint that matches specified colors. Requisition all material and supplies from the warehouse inventory. Estimate jobs and cost for all assigned task. Waterproof all surfaces before executing painting task. Paint all handicap signs in accordance with ADA requirements. Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler, using caulking gun and putty knife. Spread drop cloths over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces, such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
High School Diploma or its' equivalent or Vocational Certificate. Minimum of five (5) years' experience in painting, texturing, or a related field is preferred. A valid Mississippi Drivers' License is required.
