Job summary

Jump Recruitment, on behalf of the Town of Fogo Island, is seeking Heavy Equipment Operators/Maintenance Workers to join the Public Works department on Fogo Island, NL. The roles involve operating and maintaining municipal vehicles and equipment to deliver water and sewer services and to perform snow removal.

Successful applicants will work in variable weather, be on-call after hours and weekends, and help with emergencies and routine maintenance as part of the Public Works team.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid Class 3, 8, and 9 driver licenses.
• Water Operator Level I is an asset.
• Knowledge of OH&S regulations is an asset.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Background in mechanics is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Snow clearing and ice control using municipal equipment.
• Operate equipment for ditching, road maintenance, water and sewer work.
• Perform emergency roadside repairs as required.
• Maintain water supply and sewer pumping systems.
• Carry out preventative maintenance on Town equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
• On-call after hours and weekends.

Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, the Town of Fogo Island, are seeking to fulfill positions for Heavy Equipment Operators/Maintenance Workers to join them in their Public Works department on Fogo Island, NL. Permanent Full-time and Seasonal positions are available.

Job Summary:

The Town of Fogo Island is seeking dedicated and qualified individuals to join its team. The successful applicants will provide professional support and operation of the Town's engineering and public works programs. The primary purpose of the position is to facilitate the delivery of public works and water and sewer services to the Town of Fogo Island. This position entails a variety of duties including water and sewer related duties (troubleshooting, maintenance, etc.), operation and maintenance of municipal vehicles, equipment, and other related maintenance required by the Town of Fogo Island. Assigned work may include repairs and standard procedures to ensure that all water and sewer systems are working correctly. In addition, these positions entail working in adverse weather conditions to clear snow from Town roads, along with any other duties that may arise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide safe and effective snow clearing and ice control service through the operation of snow clearing and ice control equipment in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
• Provide safe and effective operation of Council equipment for all designated services such as ditching, road maintenance, water and sewer infrastructure, or other duties.
• Provide emergency roadside repairs as required.
• Provide safe and effective water and sewer services through the operation and maintenance of water supply and sewer pumping systems in a timely and efficient manner.
• Provide preventative maintenance on all Town equipment as per manufactures instructions and maintain garage inventories at a level to effectively perform the required maintenance.
• Other duties related to the position as assigned.
• These positions will require the successful candidates to be on-call after normal business hours and weekends.
