Job summary

Ericsson GmbH in Maastricht is seeking a Network Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain IP infrastructure throughout the project lifecycle, from lab validation to deployment and handover.

You will build automation frameworks with Python and Ansible, work with APIs, and guide customers on architecture choices while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work setting in the Netherlands.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of IP networking, infrastructure engineering, or network automation experience.
• Proven experience developing automation solutions using Python and Ansible.
• Experience with automation frameworks, APIs, and modern DevOps methodologies.
• Strong design, implementation, migration, and operational support skills in complex environments.
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluency in English; Dutch language skills are a strong advantage.

About this opportunity:

Are you an experienced network engineer who enjoys working on complex IP infrastructure in a real customer environment? We are looking for a Network automation engineer IP-infra to strengthen our team in Maastricht. In this role, you will work across the full lifecycle of IP network solutions: from design and lab validation to integration, implementation, and final acceptance. You will join a skilled team of telecom and IT professionals, work with modern technologies, and help deliver reliable, high-impact network solutions for our customers.

• Develop and maintain network automation frameworks using Python, Ansible, and modern API-driven technologies.
• Build, configure, and maintain lab environments for testing, validation, and proof-of-concept activities.
• Execute network changes in compliance with change management and operational excellence practices.
• Analyze network performance, conduct capacity planning, and identify opportunities for optimization.
• Support deployment and operations teams with advanced technical expertise and troubleshooting.
• Lead technical discussions with customers and provide guidance on architecture, automation strategies, and technology choices.
• Develop technical documentation, solution designs, presentations, and customer proposals.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams.

What We Are Looking For?

You recognize yourself in the following profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Relevant Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCDP, DevNet, or equivalent) or willingness to obtain them.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in IP networking, infrastructure engineering, or network automation.
• Proven experience developing automation solutions using Python and Ansible.
• Experience working with automation frameworks, APIs, and modern DevOps methodologies.
• Strong hands-on experience with network design, implementation, migration, and operational support.
• Experience working in complex Service Provider, Enterprise, or Data Center environments.
• Strong analytical mindset with a structured and detail-oriented approach to solving complex problems.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluency in English.
• Dutch language skills are considered a strong advantage.
