Job summary

Naval Architecture Designer (Draftsman) is needed for a client in the floating production sector in the Netherlands. You will produce and maintain naval architecture drawings for FPSO hull arrangements, tank and deck layouts, and accommodation areas in compliance with class, flag, and project requirements.

You will develop layouts to support stability, weight distribution, operability, safety, and maintainability through the vessel’s lifecycle, and assist with analyses related to stability,

Qualifications

  • 0–5 years of professional experience in FPSO / Oil & Gas / Shipbuilding Naval Architecture.
  • Solid understanding of ship layout, compartmentation, stability principles, weight distribution, and vessel operability.
  • Knowledge of FPSO concepts, offshore vessel operations, and marine system integration.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain naval architecture drawings for FPSO hull arrangements, general arrangements, tank layouts, deck layouts, and accommodation/living quarters in compliance with class, flag, and project requirements.
  • Develop layouts that support stability, weight distribution, operability, safety, and maintainability of the FPSO throughout its lifecycle.
  • Support analyses by preparing drawings and data related to stability, weight control, draft, trim, and vessel motions as required by engineers.
  • Incorporate interfaces with marine systems such as mooring, offloading, ballast, bilge, seawater and marine piping into vessel layouts.
  • Prepare and update 2D/3D models using AutoCAD and/or E3D, ensuring alignment with engineering inputs and constructability at yard/site.
  • Coordinate with structural, piping, mechanical, electrical, and outfitting disciplines to resolve layout clashes and interface issues.
  • Ensure designs comply with classification society rules (ABS, DNV), offshore regulations, and industry standards.
  • Identify design constraints and risks early and escalate unresolved issues to Lead Designer or Naval Architect.

For one of our clients in the floating production industry, we are looking for a Naval Architecture Designer (Draftsman) .

Our client is a leader in Floating Production Storage & Offloading systems, exploring new frontiers like floating wind and carbon-cutting tech with expert capabilities and a unique, full-lifecycle value proposition.

Purpose
  • As Naval Architecture Designer, you are responsible for supporting FPSO projects by producing technically sound and constructible naval architecture designs related to hull arrangements, marine systems layout, and vessel functionality. You ensure that the produced designs meet safety, regulatory, operational, and project requirements while supporting efficient engineering execution.

Education
  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Design, or related field or a recognized design certificate.
Experience
  • 0 to 5 years of experience in FPSO / Oil & Gas / Shipbuilding industry in the Naval Architecture discipline.
  • Solid understanding of naval architecture fundamentals: ship layout, compartmentation, stability principles, weight distribution, and vessel operability.
  • Knowledge of FPSO concepts, offshore vessel operations, and marine system integration.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and/or E3D software is an advantage.
  • Exposure to FPSO hull layouts, accommodation / living quarters, marine systems, and vessel operation is an advantage.
