Job summary

Cape May County Fare Free Transportation seeks a dedicated Motor Vehicle Operator to transport seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, and the general public on door-to-door routes. This full-time role covers 40 hours weekly with benefits, PTO, and pension, requiring careful vehicle operation and courteous service.

Responsibilities include assisting riders, using lifts, conducting pre-trip inspections, and learning the electronic information system to document trips accurately.

Qualifications

• State of New Jersey CDL Class B required.
• Passenger Endorsement required.
• Clean driving record.
• Certificate from a driver training course.

Responsibilities

• Drive, clean, and maintain buses/minibuses/vans; transport seniors, disabled, veterans, and general public on routes and door-to-door.
• Assist riders into/out of vehicles and escort riders with disabilities.
• Operate lifts for passengers in wheelchairs; secure seating and wheelchairs as needed.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; learn and use the electronic information system to log trips.

Position Overview

Full Time Position

40 Hours per Week / Paid Time Off / Pension / Benefits

Duties (include but not limited to):

• Under direction, drives, cleans, and maintains buses, minibuses, and/or vans


• sued in transporting senior citizens, persons with disabilities, veterans, persons of low income and/or general public, on assigned routes, door to door, from their homes and their destinations and back.


• Assist riders into and out of vehicles


• Escort persons with disabilities and/or frail riders to and from Their homes and/or destinations


• Operate a lift to assist passengers confined in Wheelchairs into and out of vehicles


• And assist them into and our of seats or secure wheelchairs for transport


• Assist passengers boarding and exiting vehicles


• With packages – may be required to assist with


• Packages to rider’s door


• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections


• Will be required to learn to use electronic information system


• To maintain all information pertaining to trips


• Able to communicate effectively with other employees and the public


• In a manner that is both courteous and professional
