Job summary

BD seeks a Scientist I, Microbiology to support UK & Ireland leadership of Waters Biosciences and Waters Advanced Diagnostics. You will design and perform laboratory studies, analyze results, and help advance diagnostic products in a clinical microbiology environment.

Responsibilities include documenting procedures, supporting validation studies, collaborating with R&D, and potentially providing on-site customer support. A strong microbiology background and regulatory awareness are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Applied Science or related scientific discipline with focus on Medical Microbiology.
• Understanding of clinical microbiology principles and laboratory practices.
• Experience in microbiology laboratory or medical device industry is advantageous.
• Knowledge of CLSI/EUCAST/CLIA/FDA guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation.
• Experience in product testing, validation studies, and laboratory automation systems such as BD Kiestra is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and conduct laboratory experiments to support product development and qualification.
• Document procedures, observations and results adhering to quality requirements.
• Analyze data, interpret findings, and present results with recommendations.
• Prepare study protocols, technical docs, and reports with appropriate approvals.
• Support validation studies and product performance evaluations in clinical microbiology.
