Job description

Medium & Low Voltage Switchgear Electrical Engineer – Data Centers

Are you an Electrical Engineer with experience in medium- and low-voltage systems, switchgear or power distribution? Would you like to work on complex electrical infrastructure for some of the world’s largest data center projects?

Do you enjoy combining detailed electrical engineering with customer contact, factory testing and international projects?

Then this Medium & Low Voltage Switchgear Electrical Engineer position at Trinamics could be your next career step.

The Role

As a Medium & Low Voltage Switchgear Electrical Engineer, you will be part of an experienced multidisciplinary engineering team delivering advanced power distribution solutions for large-scale data centers and industrial applications.

You will work on the electrical design and integration of medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) switchgear, power distribution systems, busbar systems and E-Houses.

Our projects range from detailed engineering through manufacturing and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to delivery and final handover. You will work closely with Lead Engineers, customers, suppliers and production teams to make sure that every electrical system is technically sound, practical to manufacture and meets the required standards and specifications.

No two projects are exactly the same. With international customers, demanding technical requirements and tight project schedules, this is a role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and taking ownership of their work.

What will you do?

Depending on your experience and interests, your responsibilities may include:

  • Designing and engineering medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems for data centers and industrial applications.
  • Developing detailed electrical designs for MV/LV switchgear and E-House installations.
  • Working on electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, cable systems, interfaces and equipment specifications.
  • Selecting and specifying electrical components and equipment.
  • Supporting the integration of MV switchgear, LV switchgear, transformers, busbars and auxiliary systems.
  • Reviewing basic and detailed engineering designs and ensuring compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Working closely with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams on technical interfaces and project requirements.
  • Reviewing technical documentation, drawings, calculations and supplier documentation.
  • Investigating technical issues and developing practical engineering solutions.
  • Supporting the integration of systems such as HVAC, fire protection and other E-House infrastructure.
  • Preparing and maintaining complete electrical engineering documentation packages.
  • Supporting and attending Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
  • Providing technical support to production, commissioning teams and during project delivery.
  • Supporting project handover and resolving outstanding technical issues.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve engineering processes, products and project execution.
  • Visiting factories and project sites in the Netherlands and abroad.

You will have the opportunity to take ownership of your own engineering activities while working closely with experienced Electrical Engineers and Lead Engineers.

What do you bring?

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer who enjoys working with power distribution, switchgear and complex electrical systems and who combines strong technical skills with a practical, hands-on mindset.

You have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Professional experience with electrical engineering, power distribution, switchgear or complex technical installations.
  • An interest in medium- and low-voltage systems and power distribution.
  • A precise and analytical approach to engineering.
  • A practical, solution-oriented and hands-on mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to discuss technical matters with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
  • A willingness to learn and continuously develop your technical expertise.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Basic knowledge of Dutch, or the willingness to learn Dutch.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • VCA-VOL, or the willingness to obtain it.
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
  • Medium-voltage switchgear
  • Low-voltage switchgear
  • Busbar systems
  • E-Houses / prefabricated substations
  • Electrical design and engineering
  • Single-line diagrams and electrical schematics
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
  • IEC standards and electrical safety requirements
What do we offer?

You will join a growing international engineering environment where you can develop your expertise in MV/LV power distribution and switchgear while working on projects that are critical to modern digital infrastructure.

We offer:

  • €4,500 – €5,500 gross per month, depending on experience and expertise.
  • 13th month payment.
  • Employment conditions based on the CAO Metalektro.
  • International projects within the rapidly growing data center industry.
  • The opportunity to work with advanced MV/LV switchgear, power distribution and E-House technology.
  • A varied engineering role combining technical design, customer interaction, factory testing and project execution.
  • Opportunities to further develop your expertise in power distribution and electrical engineering.
  • A collaborative environment where you work alongside experienced Electrical and Lead Engineers.
  • Regular international travel to factories and project sites, generally for short periods.
Where will you work?

Your main workplace will The Hague, the Netherlands.

From there, you will work with an experienced engineering team on international projects for customers across the globe.
