Job summary

uPATCH™ Applicators is seeking a Design Engineer to drive the development of medical devices from concept to production in the Netherlands. You will design injection-molded plastic components and assemblies and ensure regulatory and quality requirements are met within ISO 13485.

Key tasks include designing with SolidWorks, applying DFM/DFA, and coordinating with suppliers, R&D, and quality teams to deliver robust, manufacturable products for Class I and II medical devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 5–10 years of experience as a design or mechanical engineer.
• Extensive experience with injection-molded plastic products.
• Excellent proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of material selection, tolerances, and manufacturability.
• Experience managing and collaborating with external suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop medical plastic products using SolidWorks.
• Apply Design for Injection Molding and Assembly (DFM/DFA) for series production.
• Design in compliance with requirements for Class I and II medical devices.
• Contribute to design and development activities within an ISO 13485 framework.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation (e.g. drawings, design inputs/outputs).
• Support prototyping, tooling, and initial production runs.
• Collaborate with injection molders and toolmakers.
• Support design reviews, verification, and validation activities.
• Implement design changes through controlled change management processes.
