Job description

Mechatronics Engineer (International Talent Pool)

Rotterdam, Netherlands

Role Profile

We are pooling multidisciplinary Mechatronics Engineers who seamlessly bridge the gap between mechanical design, electrical systems, and software engineering to maintain and optimize advanced robotic and high-tech manufacturing systems.

Mandatory Global Vetting Process (All Roles)

To meet strict European immigration, labor, and client compliance standards, all candidates moving forward from the database will be required to undergo:

  • Comprehensive Background Screening: Full criminal record checks, qualification verifications, and employment reference checks.
  • Clearance for International Work: Verification of eligibility to obtain passports and visas for the Netherlands or Belgium.
  • Professional Assessments: Completion of Psychometric, Emotional Intelligence (EQ), and technical aptitude testing.
Requirements
  • Education: B.Eng or B.Tech in Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience working on integrated, automated, or robotic machinery.
  • Technical Focus: Combined expertise in mechanical diagnostics, electrical wiring, and digital control systems (PLC/microcontrollers).
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory. Candidates fluent in Afrikaans will receive added consideration.
  • Demographic Focus: Candidates under the age of 30 will be given preference during the initial talent‑mapping phase.
1. Professional Growth & Technological Advancement

The Netherlands and Belgium are at the forefront of automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0. Candidates will work with cutting‑edge infrastructure and high‑speed automated systems rarely deployed at scale in South Africa.

European engineering firms heavily invest in Research and Development, providing professionals with exposure to pioneering sustainable technologies and complex global projects.

Earning in Euros (€) provides immediate financial stability, shielding professionals from the volatility of the South African Rand (ZAR).

In the Netherlands, highly skilled migrants can qualify for the 30 % Ruling where 30 % of their salary is tax‑free for up to five years, dramatically increasing take‑home pay and easing relocation costs.

Both countries mandate comprehensive employment benefits, including a minimum of 20 to 25 days of paid annual leave, holiday allowances (usually an extra 8 % of annual salary paid in May), and robust pension schemes.

3. Lifestyle, Safety, and Infrastructure

Low crime rates provide a lifestyle free from the security anxieties common in South Africa. Candidates and their families experience complete freedom of movement at any time of day.

The necessity of owning and maintaining a vehicle is completely eliminated. Both countries boast highly efficient, interconnected train, tram, and bus networks, alongside world‑famous cycling infrastructure.

Holding a European residence permit grants visa‑free travel across the entire Schengen Zone, allowing for easy weekend travel across Europe.

4. Cultural Integration for South Africans

For Afrikaans‑speaking candidates, Dutch (and Flemish in Belgium) is remarkably easy to learn due to shared linguistic roots, giving an immediate cultural advantage and faster team integration.

The Netherlands ranks as the top non‑native English‑speaking country in the world. While learning the local language is encouraged for long‑term integration, professional business is widely conducted in fluent English.

5. Family & Social Security

Highly accessible, world‑class public schooling and universally excellent healthcare systems ensure that a candidate’s family is well looked after without the high private insurance and schooling costs found in South Africa.

European labor frameworks highly value work‑life balance. Overtime is strictly regulated and usually compensated with extra time off, ensuring professionals have ample time to spend with their families.
