Job summary

UMCG in Groningen seeks a mechanical design engineer to develop and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and mechanical layouts for the perfusion test stand. You will support workshop builds and prototype iterations with interfaces and tolerances.

You will collaborate with PhD researchers, postdocs, and European partners; produce design documentation, update models as system architecture evolves, and export geometry for simulation and manufacturing (e.g., STEP).

Qualifications

• Master’s in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical/ Biomedical Engineering (Bachelor’s with strong build experience welcome).
• Hands-on experience building prototypes, workshop, test stands or lab setups.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and mechanical layouts for the perfusion test stand.
• Prepare design documentation supporting workshop builds and prototype iterations (interfaces, tolerances, BOM-style lists).
• Update models as system architecture evolves in design reviews with researchers and project leads.
• Export geometry for simulation and manufacturing when required (e.g., STEP).
• Collaborate with PhD researchers, postdocs, and European partners as a practical engineering counterpart.
