Job summary

HID Global in Veldhoven, Netherlands, is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to design and validate mechatronic subsystems with a focus on electrical design, motion control and PLC-based machine control.

The engineer will work in multidisciplinary teams, translate specifications into functional designs, develop PLC software, and ensure safety and performance across complex machinery. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in machine building or mechatronic systems.
• Experience with PLC programming (e.g. Siemens, Beckhoff, B&R).
• Experience with motion control systems.
• Experience with electrical design tools (e.g. EPLAN).
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Translating specifications into functional designs and control concepts (PLC, motion, safety).
• Designing and documenting electrical systems including schematics and I/O structures.
• Developing, testing and maintaining PLC-based control software.
• Implementing and optimizing motion control solutions.
• Testing and validating systems against functional and safety requirements.
• Analyzing and resolving technical issues and machine failures.
• Supporting Assembly & Testing, Service and Project Engineering teams.
• Working in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Contributing to system architecture and concept development.
• Participating in integration and commissioning activities.
• Preparing and maintaining technical documentation.
• Supporting standardization and continuous improvements.
• Interfacing with suppliers and stakeholders.

Job Overview

IAI Industrial Systems, part of HID Global, is a leading supplier of advanced systems for the global security printing market, developing and manufacturing solutions for passports, identity cards and banknotes. The Mechatronics Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and validating mechatronic subsystems with a strong focus on electrical design, motion control and PLC‑based machine control. The engineer operates within multidisciplinary project teams and contributes to the development of complex industrial machinery, ensuring designs meet functional specifications, machine safety standards, and customer requirements.
