Job summary

AIM Solutions in Eindhoven, a deep-tech startup building inspection and metrology equipment for semiconductors, seeks a hands-on mechatronics engineer to own the wafer stage, wafer handling, and focusing system. You will work across mechanics, electronics and software, becoming the in-house expert on precision motion.

Collaborate with embedded, electrical and software engineers to tune controls, develop readouts, and validate performance in the lab.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in mechatronics or precision motion in high-tech equipment (5+ years preferred).
  • Practical experience with precision stages, actuators and position sensors.
  • Good knowledge of control engineering: feedback and feedforward control, system identification, loop shaping.
  • Experience with commercial motion controllers and scripting them.
  • You enjoy debugging across mechanics, electronics and software, and you turn vague problems into repeatable tests.
  • Full professional proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and tune the wafer stage and its control together with embedded engineers and electrical engineers.
  • Develop the wafer handling, from loading to alignment, together with the mechanical engineer.
  • Develop the focusing system and keep the wafer in the right place throughout a measurement.
  • Own the other active components in the system: actuators, sensors and their control.

Job description

About us

AIM Solutions is an early-stage deep-tech startup in Eindhoven building inspection and metrology equipment for the semiconductor industry. We are in active build phase, small, and growing.

The role

You own everything that moves in our tool. You are responsible for the wafer stage, the wafer handling and the focusing system, and for any other active component in the machine. You work between mechanics, electronics and software, and you become our in-house expert on precision motion.

You will:

  • Integrate and tune the wafer stage and its control together with embedded engineers and electrical engineers

  • Develop the wafer handling, from loading to alignment, together with the mechanical engineer

  • Develop the focusing system and keep the wafer in the right place throughout a measurement

  • Own the other active components in the system: actuators, sensors and their control

  • Synchronize motion with the rest of the tool, together with the embedded and software engineers

  • Characterize performance in the lab, such as accuracy, settling and drift, and turn the data into design decisions

Your profile
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in mechatronics or precision motion in high-tech equipment (5+ years preferred)

  • Practical experience with precision stages, actuators and position sensors

  • Good knowledge of control engineering: feedback and feedforward control, system identification, loop shaping

  • Experience with commercial motion controllers and scripting them

  • You enjoy debugging across mechanics, electronics and software, and you turn vague problems into repeatable tests

  • Full professional proficiency in English

Bonus:

  • Wafer stages, wafer handling or focus and level sensing in semiconductor equipment

  • Error budgeting and dynamics for nanometer-level systems

  • Experience with FPGA-based control systems

  • Hardware triggering and real-time systems

  • Wafer handling robots, EFEMs or SEMI standards

We care more about rigor and learning speed than about a perfect match. If you have fewer years but have built and tuned a precision motion system, apply anyway.

What we offer
  • Ownership of all moving parts of a tool that does not exist anywhere else yet

  • Small team, short feedback loops, real impact on the product

  • Competitive salary for the Dutch market
