Job summary

Nevesbu is seeking a Senior/Lead Marine Mechanical Engineer to drive the design of complex mechanical systems for naval vessels, floating offshore units and special vessels. You’ll contribute to propulsion train, planes and rudder design, and act as sparring partner to the Lead Engineer, supervising junior engineers while shaping the discipline's growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in maritime engineering, naval architecture or mechanical engineering
• Minimum five years of relevant experience
• Strong technical expertise in mechanical design
• Willingness to innovate and push the limits of feasibility
• Ability to oversee and collaborate with junior engineers
• Security screening may be part of the process

As a Senior/Lead Marine MechanicalEngineer, you’ll be in the best place if you love diversity and technically complex challenges that even the smartest specialists cannot just solve. Sometimes you will be working on a large-scale multidisciplinary project and on other occasions, on a smaller but more intensive project. Your role is crucial to the development of technologically advanced mechanical systems and the setup of equipment and piping of naval vessels, floating offshore units and special vessels. You will be working on the design of different mechanical systems like Propulsion Train Design, Planes and Rudder Design and special components like valves and hatches. You will be the sparring partner of the Lead Engineer, will supervise Junior Engineers and will contribute your ideas and views about the growth and development of the discipline.

What do we expect from you?

• A completed bachelor’s degree (HBO) in maritime engineering, naval architecture or mechanical engineering
• At least five years of relevant experience and specialist knowledge of concept and basic design
• Solid technical expertise – the discipline holds no secrets for you
• Always looking to explore the limits of what is technically possible, and able to bring innovations on board responsibly
• Enjoys working on a variety of projects and doesn’t shy away from a challenge
• Understands the project context and maintains oversight, regardless of the type of vessel involved
• Has a strong drive to keep improving and innovating
• A VGB-B security screening may be part of the application process
