Job summary

Ranpak is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to design and develop automated paper-converting machinery. You will work closely with software and electrical engineers to deliver fully functional, CE-compliant mechanical systems and documentation.

Responsibilities include leading design concepts in SolidWorks, creating testing plans, and contributing to NPI projects while pursuing cost reductions and quality improvements. Hybrid work and strong growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics required.
  • Minimum 5 years of related mechanical engineering experience in automation machines.
  • Knowledge of CE standards and machine guidelines.
  • Experience with 3D CAD systems, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Willing to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop mechanical designs per Ranpak standards.
  • Coordinate with software and electrical engineers for integrated solutions.
  • Analyze data and make informed design decisions.
  • Develop concepts and finalize detailed designs.
  • Create testing plans and verify component performance.
  • Produce reports, risk assessments, and checks drawings.
  • Select components meeting machine requirements and specs.
  • Lead design concepts using SolidWorks, PDM, and SAP.
  • Assist with NPI projects and product maintenance.
  • Participate in cost reduction and quality improvements.

Summary

Design and development of paper converting machinery, fully automated 'box sizing' machines and related equipment. Responsible for the design, development and documentation associated with mechanic systems, in strong cooperation with software and electric engineering.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Works as a collaborative engineering team member applying mechanical engineering principles to develop design solutions, according to Ranpak standards and compliances like CE.
  • Cooperates with other engineering departments software and electric and is able to discuss on basic level resulting in a joint solution.
  • Structured way of working and capable to make analysis and taking data-driven decisions.
  • Develops concepts of new solutions and finalize these till functional detailed designs.
  • Confirms mechanical component’s capabilities and quality by designing testing plans.
  • Provides engineering reports, risk assessments, calculations and checks drawings for completeness and accuracy.
  • Interacts with other departments, vendors, suppliers, to select components/subassemblies that comply with machine requirements and specifications.
  • Responsible for design and concept and layout using Solidworks, PDM and SAP
  • Assists with the design, development, testing and reports for NPI projects.
  • Participates in design projects, customized products, existing product maintenance, quality improvements and cost reduction.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
  • At least 5 years of related mechanical engineering experience of automation machines, in cooperation with software and electric engineering.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and machine guidelines (CE).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and automation technology
  • Eager to implement best practices of other machine builders.
  • Capable to act as team lead and guide junior engineers.
  • Self-motivated and innovative, yet an exceptional product development team player.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • Good communications skills in the Dutch and English language
  • Knowledge of working with 3D CAD systems, preferrable Solidworks.
  • Willing to travel up to 5% of the time.
