Marel is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to focus on our prepared foods portfolio, including forming, coating, frying and heating. You will join a team of 70 across Denmark, Germany, Scotland and the Netherlands, working with 15 colleagues in the Netherlands.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or related field.
• Several years of experience engineering technical systems, preferably in the food industry.
• Experience with CAD and PDM/PLM tools; able to produce drawings and BOM.
• Proficient in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Own a group of equipment and drive design updates to improve performance.
• Ensure technical documentation enables cost-effective manufacturability.
• Ensure equipment meets latest safety standards and international standards.
• Configure, design and develop all mechanical aspects with a multidisciplinary project team.
• Create bills of materials, assemblies, components, drawings and documentation in 3D CAD and PDP.
• Pay attention to functional, hygienic and cleaning aspects, reliability, safety and cost.

About the Role

As our new Mechanical Engineer you will, together with your colleagues, be focusing on our portfolio within prepared foods that includes forming, coating, frying and heating.

You will be a part of a team of 70 colleagues that is located in both Denmark, Germany, Scotland and the Netherlands.

In your daily work you will be a part of a multidisciplinary team of 15 members based in the Netherlands.

As a Mechanical Engineer you can use all your creativity to create innovative design solutions that will improve our equipment in performance, robustness and cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Be responsible for a group of equipment, driving the necessary design updates to continuously improve that equipment.
• Be responsible for the correctness of the technical documentation to enable flawless manufacturability to the most cost effective method.
• Be responsible to make sure our equipment stays up to date with the latest safety requirements and relevant international standards.
• In cooperation with a multidisciplinary project team, efficiently configure, design and develop all mechanical aspects of solutions we deliver to our customers.
• This includes creating bills of materials, assemblies, components, drawings and documentation as required in our 3D CAD and PDM system according to the Product Development Process (PDP).
• Paying particular attention to the implementation of the functional, hygienic and cleaning aspects, reliability, safety, production technologies and cost price.
• Be responsible for timely delivery of the specifications needed for the delivered solutions.

You will recognize in yourself that you:

• Hold a degree within engineering such as mechanical, mechatronics or other technical fields.
• Have some years’ experience in the engineering of technical systems from a similar industry, preferably the food industry.
• Have experience with drawing tools, databases, and programming for preparation of documentation.
• Are familiar with CAD and PDM/PLM tools.
• Have good English skills, both written and verbal.
• Are a team player with the ability to communicate within a multidisciplinary team.
• The job requires the ability to travel on an as-needs basis which is estimated to 5-10% of your time.
