Job summary

Huisman in Schiedam is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Foreman M/F to lead a team of mechanical fitters during assembly, installation, and maintenance of heavy cranes and offshore equipment. You will ensure safety, quality, and on-time execution.

You will coordinate tasks, monitor progress, and drive continuous improvement while mentoring the team and communicating with supervisors.

The role requires read of technical drawings, VCA VOL certification, and strong leadership and planning skills.

Qualifications

• Senior secondary vocational education in mechanical engineering or comparable technical course.
• Extensive experience in mechanical assembly, including managerial or coordinating roles.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Good organisational skills and ability to plan and coordinate work effectively.
• Ability to motivate and manage a team.
• Valid VCA VOL certificate and, where applicable, hoisting or crane certificates.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Mechanical Fitters during assembly, installation, and maintenance work and ensure tasks are completed within set time limits.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards, and apply applicable guidelines and procedures.
• Organise work, allocate tasks, resources, and monitor progress, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Motivate the team, contribute to a positive working atmosphere, and provide support and guidance where required.
• Report progress, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities to the Supervisor and communicate effectively.
• Drive continuous improvement of work processes and identify and implement efficiency optimisations.
