Job summary

Van Oord is seeking a Multicatmaster to lead all onboard operations, supervise crew, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. You will coordinate with project teams and authorities to keep production on schedule and maintain high QHSE standards.

In this on-board role, you will manage maintenance planning, act as the main liaison for local authorities, and guide the crew through operational challenges with clear leadership and decision-making under pressure.

Qualifications

  • CoC Unlimited or 3000 GT with 3+ years as Multicat skipper.
  • STCW courses completed and willingness to follow Van Oord training.
  • Proficiency in English at a professional level.

Job description

As Multicatmaster, you take the lead on board. You carry the full responsibility for your vessel, your team and your operations. With confidence and clarity, you guide the crew, steer production and ensure safety. Because when your vessel moves, the project moves with it.

The position

As Multicatmaster, you are responsible for managing all onboard operations from nautical decisions to technical maintenance, from crew leadership to contact with local authorities. Every safe and successful manoeuvre reflects your leadership. Every shift in the water begins with your command.

Your impact

As Multicatmaster, you take ownership of production output, ensure smooth coordination with project teams, and safeguard our high QHSE standards. Your main tasks will include:

  • Supervise and manage all activities onboard carrying final responsibility in order to make optimal production/project output possible in close cooperation with other equipment, company management and clients (on- and offshore);
  • Guide, supervise, motivate and train your crew in consultation with operational supervisor(s) and in accordance with the relevant personnel policy, to create and safeguard a positive working atmosphere;
  • Ensure full compliance with safety and environmental regulations onboard as well as the maintenance of the assigned equipment;
  • Oversee long term maintenance planning in collaboration with our Fleet department;
  • Act as the main point of contact for local authorities and service agencies.

About you

You have a hands-on mentality, stay focused under pressure and bring strong communication and decision‑making skills to the team. You know how to lead and get things done, especially in an international and operational environment. You bring:

  • A CoC Unlimited or at least 3000 GT and at least 3 years of relevant experience as Multicatskipper
  • A proven track record in successfully managing multidisciplinary and international teams
  • Completed STCW courses and willingness to follow all recommended Van Oord training
  • Proficiency in the English language at a professional level
