Job summary

Van Oord is seeking an Automation Engineer to join the Process Control team aboard our vessels. You will develop, improve and ensure reliability of automation systems, from design through commissioning, while collaborating with colleagues, specialists and suppliers.

You will work with PLC, HMI, SCADA and OT systems, translate challenges into functional descriptions, and contribute to safe, maintainable solutions.

Qualifications

• HBO level education in Industrial Automation or related technical field.
• 3–5 years of experience in automation or a similar field.
• Interest or experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA and OT networks.
• Analytical and practical mindset.
• Willingness to travel to vessels, shipyards and project locations.
• Good command of English.
• Driving licence B.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to automation projects, upgrades and technical improvements from design through commissioning.
• Help translate operational needs and implement them in PLC, SCADA and OT systems.
• Analyze technical issues or malfunctions and work with colleagues and specialists to find practical solutions.
• Work with internal stakeholders and external suppliers and contribute to effective technical coordination.
• Contribute to the reliability, cybersecurity and maintainability of automation systems.
• Support the testing, commissioning and documentation of systems.
• Keep up to date with developments in automation and new technologies and apply them across the fleet.
• Gradually take on more responsibility within projects and develop towards becoming an independent specialist.
