Job summary

NTS Hengelo seeks a Manufacturing Engineer (NPI) to join the small but skilled NPI team. You will ensure manufacturability and set up processes for new high-tech products, from design to series production, collaborating with designers, project leaders and shop-floor staff.

You will translate complex tolerances into robust production methods, contribute during Design For Manufacturing, and actively improve process stability and quality across machining and assembly in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar.
• Strong technical insight into manufacturability, tolerances and metalworking.
• Experience in a high-tech production environment preferred.
• Knowledge of SPC, CPK, PFMEA and root cause analysis an asset.
• Analytical skills to translate design choices into process impact.
• Strong communication between engineering and shop floor.
• Proficiency in Dutch for drawings and shop-floor communication.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex customer specifications into a technically manageable production approach.
• Set up and optimize production processes within high-tech machining.
• Prepare production documents like drawings and work instructions.
• Analyze process data (SPC, CPK, machine performance) and initiate structural improvements.

• Be the technical contact within NPI projects and support predictable, quality-stable series production.

Job Description

As a Manufacturing Engineer (NPI) at NTS Hengelo, you are part of the NPI team of 20 FTE, including project leaders/managers, manufacturing engineers, and technical specialists. You report to the team leader ME NPI. Together you are responsible for the technical manufacturability and process setup of new high-tech products within our machining and assembly environment for the Semicon and Analytical market. You operate at the heart of the technical chain: from design to series production. You analyze complex tolerances, material properties, and critical product characteristics and translate these into a robust, reproducible production process. You actively contribute during the design phase (Design For Manufacturing) and provide technical input to clients and internal project teams.

You stay close to production. You gather knowledge from operators, understand the dynamics of the shop floor and translate practical experience into structural process improvements. You focus fully on technical process control, optimization, and assurance.

Your tasks also include:

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's level in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar;
• Strong technical insight into manufacturability, tolerances, and metalworking;
• Affinity with or experience in a high-tech production environment, preferably machining;
• Knowledge of quality methods like SPC, CPK, PFMEA and root cause analysis is a plus;
• Analytical skills to translate design choices into process impact;
• Strong communication skills and ability to switch effectively between engineering and shop floor;
• Good command of Dutch language spoken and written for drawings, work instructions and shop floor communication.

• Salary from €4,738 to €6,218 gross per month, depending on experience and qualifications; Based on scale L Manufacturing Engineer A
