Job summary

Magnus Energy invites an experienced Managing Consultant to join our international team focusing on Power System Operations & Planning. You will work with European TSOs, RCCs and DSOs, delivering advanced operational and planning solutions with a strong commercial orientation.

You will lead project teams, translate client needs into actionable technical approaches, and drive business development while coaching colleagues and expanding Magnus Energy capabilities across the energy transition.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related discipline.
• 8–10 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in energy or power-system consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of power system operations and planning processes.
• Experience leading technical client assignments, project teams or substantial workstreams.
• Hands-on experience with Python or scripting language.
• Professional proficiency in English; Dutch/German/French preferred.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a Managing Consultant - Power System Operations & Planning, you will help leading European energy organisations address increasingly complex operational and power-system challenges. You combine technical depth with strong client leadership and a commercial mindset.

You will work with leading TSOs, RCCs, DSOs and other energy-sector organisations on some of Europe's most complex operational and planning challenges arising from the energy transition and contribute to strengthening Magnus Energy’s capabilities in Power System Operations & Planning.

In addition, you will:

• Lead client assignments related to operational planning, regional coordination, network modelling and power system studies, helping clients improve modelling quality, interoperability and planning processes, including CIM/CGMES-based information exchange.


• Translate complex client challenges into practical technical solutions, clear project approaches and compelling proposals.


• Perform and oversee transmission-network analyses, including load-flow and contingency studies, and review the quality of technical outputs.


• Act as a trusted client contact and lead workshops, stakeholder discussions and technical workstreams.


• Identify commercial opportunities, develop proposals and contribute actively to winning new work and expanding client relationships.


• Coach consultants and specialists, ensure delivery quality and support knowledge transfer across the team.


• Develop and share reusable methodologies, analytical approaches, automation and thought leadership.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an experienced technical consultant or power-system professional who combines strong expertise with excellent consulting, leadership and commercial skills. You are comfortable leading assignments independently, engaging senior stakeholders and turning technical insight into client value.

You bring:

• A BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Systems or a closely related discipline.


• Approximately 8-10 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within an energy or power-system consultancy. Relevant experience within a TSO, RCC, DSO or technology provider is also welcomed.


• Strong knowledge of power system operations and operational-planning processes, preferably including regional coordination processes, network modelling, load-flow analysis, contingency analysis. and power-system data exchange.


• Demonstrated experience leading technical client assignments, project teams or substantial workstreams.


• A track record of translating client needs into solutions and contributing to proposals, business development or account growth.


• Hands-on experience with Python or another scripting or programming language.


• Professional proficiency in English, (minimum C1). Fluency in Dutch, German French or another European language is preferred and you have the ability to work effectively in an international environment.

Good to have:

• Experience with DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®E, Pandapower or comparable power-system analysis software.


• Experience with dynamic studies, distribution-network modelling or data-quality and validation workflows.


• Knowledge of CIM/CGMES, Network Code profiles and power-system data exchange.


• An established network across consultancies, TSOs, RCCs, DSOs, technology providers or related European energy organisations.
