Maintenance Manager – Pernis
Responsible for the maintenance organization at the Pernis site, including maintenance execution, planning & scheduling, warehousing, and discipline engineering.
Job Objectives
- Ensures safe, predictable and efficient execution of all maintenance activities, contributing to reliable plant operation, asset performance and cost control.
- Operates within the strategic direction and priorities of the Technical organization.
Essential Functions
- Ensures safe, compliant and efficient execution of all maintenance activities (preventive, corrective and emergency).
- Lead and manage the maintenance organization to deliver reliable and predictable performance.
- Establish and maintain effective maintenance processes, standards and procedures.
- Manage maintenance execution in line with agreed planning, budget and quality requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement of maintenance performance and asset reliability.
Decision Making Authority
- Decides on day‑to‑day maintenance execution, including prioritization within agreed plans and available resources.
- Decides on allocation of maintenance resources and contractor deployment within approved budgets.
- Defines and improves maintenance work processes, procedures and execution standards.
- Takes operational decisions required to ensure safe and efficient maintenance execution.
- Provides input and recommendations for maintenance budgets, asset strategies and improvement initiatives.
- Escalates and aligns on priorities, major technical decisions and deviations from plan with the Technical Manager.

- OPS Manager, TA Manager, Contract Manager, Manager of Projects, Reliability Engineer, Cost control.
General Responsibilities
- Accountable for safe and efficient execution of all maintenance activities.
- Ensure clear ownership and coordination of maintenance‑related issues and technical support activities.
- Ensure effective planning, scheduling and backlog control of maintenance work.
- Manage maintenance costs within budget and drive efficiency improvements.
- Ensure effective contractor management in line with company standards.
- Maintain and improve maintenance systems, processes and data quality.
- Drive continuous improvement through structured problem‑solving, performance review and reduction of failures.
- Ensure timely escalation of operational, technical and resource issues where required.
HSE & Quality
- Accountable for compliance with all HSE, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Accountable for HSE/quality performance of the maintenance organization and contractors.
- Ensure safe execution of all maintenance activities through enforcement of standards and procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture and continuous HSE improvement.
People Management
- Lead, manage and develop a high‑performing maintenance organization.
- Promote accountability, ownership and professional behaviour within the maintenance organization.
- Address performance, behaviour and non‑compliance in a timely and consistent manner.
- Ensure appropriate staffing, competencies and team development.
- Set clear objectives and manage performance of the team.
- Act as a role model in safety, compliance and company values.
KPI’s
- Accountable for maintenance performance through defined KPIs (HSE, quality, planning, cost and reliability).
- Monitor, report and drive performance improvement based on KPI outcomes.
- Ensure transparency and consistency in maintenance performance reporting.
Knowledge, Education & Skills
- Acts and interacts at Bachelor level; minimum of 10 years relevant maintenance experience, preferably in an international environment.
- Experienced in development of standards and procedures.
- Experience with maintenance systems (e.g. SAP) and data‑driven performance management.
- People manager and team player.
- Strong communication skills on both strategic and operational levels.
- English and Dutch language skills, both written and verbally.
