Job summary

Betaprofs is seeking experienced Maintenance Engineers for a highly automated distribution centre in Heerlen, Netherlands. You will diagnose faults, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and support fellow technicians as part of a hands-on team.

The role includes working with conveyors, shuttles, sensors and drives, with a permanent contract and competitive salary. English skills are valued; Dutch not required. Relocation not mentioned.

For our client, an international specialist in warehouse automation, we are looking for experienced, hands-on Maintenance Engineers to join the technical team at a new, highly automated distribution centre in Heerlen, the Netherlands.

Our client develops, installs and maintains advanced automated systems for warehouses and distribution centres worldwide.

You will work with shuttle systems, conveyors, sensors, drives, electrical equipment and industrial control systems.

This is a hands‑on technical position, not a desk‑based engineering role.

What will you be doing?

• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical faults.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment.
• Troubleshoot conveyor systems, shuttles, sensors, motors and electrical drives.
• Investigate recurring technical problems and identify their root causes.
• Suggest improvements to increase equipment reliability.
• Support less experienced maintenance technicians and share your technical knowledge.
• Work together with your colleagues to keep the automated systems running reliably.

What do we offer?

• €64,000 – €73,000 gross annual salary, including 30% shift allowance and 8% holiday allowance.
• A permanent employment contract directly with our client.
• Full 30% shift allowance from your very first working day, including during the current start-up phase.
• Initially a shift schedule with Sundays off, with a transition to a full 5‑shift schedule planned for early 2027.
• 32 days off per year, plus possible additional age‑related days.
• Travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometre (maximum 100 km per day).

Who are we looking for?

• Preferably MBO level 3/4 or equivalent vocational education in electrical engineering.
• This position is not intended for candidates with a Bachelor's or university degree. We are specifically looking for practical maintenance professionals with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• A background in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or automotive technology is also welcome if you have additional electrical training.
• Solid hands‑on experience in industrial maintenance, machine building or technical troubleshooting.
• Good knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems.
• The ability to independently analyse and solve complex technical faults.
• A practical, proactive and problem‑solving attitude.
• Good English communication skills. Dutch is not required.

Additional electrical qualifications such as NEN 3140, Electrical Switching or equivalent training are highly relevant.

Location and commuting

You already live in Heerlen or the surrounding area, preferably within approximately 30 km commuting distance.

Candidates living in nearby parts of Belgium or Germany are also welcome.

You must already be legally authorised to work in the Netherlands without employer visa sponsorship.

If you live outside the Netherlands, previous experience working in the Netherlands and the necessary administrative arrangements are important.

You must be able to travel independently to the workplace for early, late and night shifts.
