Job summary

Elsevier in Amsterdam is seeking a publishing professional to manage a portfolio of 10–12 Life Sciences journals, driving their publishing performance and development in partnership with editors, editorial boards and societies.

You will combine market data, data-driven decision making and strong relationship skills to grow content and financial performance while collaborating across cultures and with wider STMJ projects. Travel 3–4 times per year is required.

Qualifications

• University degree or PhD.
• Two years of journal publishing experience or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong English communication and networking skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and collaboratively across cultures and locations.
• Data-driven mindset with commercial and financial awareness.
• Adaptability and interest in the changing publishing landscape.
• Good judgement when using AI tools and evaluating outputs.
• Willingness to travel, averaging 3–4 trips per year.

Responsibilities

• Follow the market and identify needs for journals and communities served.
• Set portfolio strategy to meet STMJ targets and compare data.
• Develop the portfolio to grow content and financial performance, including new formats and channels.
• Manage contracts with editors and budgets for editorial fees.
• Build relationships with editors, editorial boards, societies and researchers.
• Contribute to wider STMJ projects and pilots for new products or business models.
