Job Description

As part of the team you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Supervision of the gravity research related activities in the TEC LIS labs;
  • Preparation and execution of experiments for the Large Diameter Centifuge (LDC), the Random Positioning Machines and all related equipment;
  • Provision of services for commercial customers of the labs (use of centrifuge for testing);
  • Liaison with the science community to organise gravity related experiments;
  • Operation and Maintenance of the Large Diameter Centrifuge (LDC) at ESTEC;
  • Provision of inputs to technology and science strategies related to diagnostics for life and physical science experiments for exploration enabling science;
  • Provision of support in detailed technical specification of planned R&D activities;
  • Assistance in the technical evaluation of development results, as well as designs from projects;
  • Analysis, evaluation, reporting and interpretation of data of biological or physiological experiments;
  • Support of Breadboard testing and sample evaluation for Life Support activities.

Qualifications

You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:

  • Master Degree in Life and/or Engineering sciences or relevant discipline
  • Background and experience in gravity related research, optical diagnostic methods (optical microscopy etc);
  • Excellent knowledge of (micro)gravity research for life and physical science;
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
