Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Teacher – Software Development & AI (Full-Stack) based in Netherlands.

As a Lead Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering an intensive technology training programme designed to equip university students with practical, industry-relevant software engineering and AI development skills. You will lead engaging technical sessions, guide hands‑on coding exercises, and help students build confidence across full‑stack development. Combining your professional engineering expertise with a passion for teaching, you will support learners through collaborative projects, technical assessments, and their final capstone experience. You will also help students integrate AI tools responsibly into modern software development workflows, from code generation and debugging to testing and documentation. Working remotely with an international educational team, you will collaborate with teaching assistants and programme stakeholders to ensure a high‑quality, inclusive learning experience. This full‑time freelance opportunity also includes three on‑site trips to Baku, Azerbaijan, giving you the chance to contribute directly to a dynamic, internationally delivered educational initiative.

Accountabilities:
  • Academic delivery and instruction: Deliver live lectures, interactive demonstrations, and coding sessions covering full‑stack software development and AI‑enabled engineering practices. Lead approximately two hours of daily theory and demonstrations, followed by two hours of guided laboratory and practical sessions.
  • Lesson planning and curriculum implementation: Prepare structured daily lesson plans tailored to students' needs and progress. Adapt teaching materials and instructional pacing while following the established programme syllabus.
  • Hands‑on project supervision: Guide student teams through major collaborative assignments, including the mid‑bootcamp project and final capstone, helping learners apply technical concepts to practical software development challenges.
  • AI integration and responsible development: Teach students how to incorporate AI coding assistants into professional workflows, including code generation, debugging, refactoring, testing, documentation, and AI‑powered feature development. Emphasize security, privacy, code quality, and critical evaluation of AI‑generated output.
  • Student assessment and mentoring: Review assignments and project submissions, administer assessments, and provide timely, constructive technical feedback. Lead Q&A sessions and support students with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Classroom and community leadership: Coordinate daily with the Teaching Assistant to manage practical sessions, monitor student progress, and address learning challenges.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration: Work closely with programme managers, project managers, and client representatives to maintain alignment on learning objectives, programme milestones, and student outcomes.
  • Inclusive learning environment: Foster an engaging, supportive, and collaborative classroom culture that encourages critical thinking, peer learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Programme preparation and delivery: Review and adapt learning materials during the preparation phase, support programme delivery from the start of classes, and contribute to the successful completion of final projects and graduation activities.
Requirements:
  • Professional experience: At least three years of professional experience in full‑stack web development or software engineering, with a strong understanding of modern development practices.
  • Teaching and mentoring experience: Previous experience teaching or mentoring students in full‑stack development bootcamps, university programmes, or comparable technical training environments.
  • Backend development expertise: Strong knowledge of Java fundamentals, including object‑oriented programming, collections, and testing; Spring Boot, REST APIs, dependency injection, and controllers; SQL databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL; JPA/Hibernate; Spring Security and JWT authentication; and microservices or messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
  • Frontend development expertise: Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, React, Next.js, HTML5, and CSS3, with the ability to teach modern frontend development concepts and practices.
  • DevOps and development tooling: Familiarity with Git and GitHub workflows, Docker and Docker Compose, CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, and REST or GraphQL API integration.
  • AI-assisted development: Practical experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or Codeium, with the ability to demonstrate their effective application in real‑world engineering workflows.
  • Responsible AI practices: A strong understanding of the limitations and risks of AI‑generated code, including security vulnerabilities, data privacy, maintainability, testing, and the importance of human review.

  • Leadership and interpersonal skills: Strong mentoring, organization, and collaboration abilities, with a proactive approach to student support, problem‑solving, and stakeholder communication.
  • Availability and flexibility: Availability for a full‑time commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and willingness to travel to Baku, Azerbaijan, for three scheduled on‑site programme events.
