Overview

As a Lead Engineer Mechanical Shipbuilding, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and engineering ship equipment that operates in the demanding maritime environment. Your work directly contributes to the success of our projects.

Your responsibilities
  • Functionally lead, coach, and develop team members, and provide input for performance appraisals when applicable.
  • Offer technical advice during tenders and address potential production-related issues or gaps and contribute insights on production approaches, sequencing, and budget implications.
  • Support internal and external stakeholders throughout implementation, production, and aftersales, addressing technical queries.
  • Identify, evaluate and improve bottlenecks in processes, installations, and equipment.
  • Assess customer requirements related to product materials, processes, quality, and specifications, and conduct initial opportunity and risk analyses.
  • Review processed drawings for consistency, missing information, readability, and user-friendliness. Adjust or elaborate on documents and system information as needed.
  • Provide input for detailed Machinery & Piping plans and specify work to be outsourced.
  • Revise basic engineering packages based on non-conformities, personal insights, or directions from others.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders to document process, installation, and equipment activities.
  • Offer insights through periodic and ad hoc reports on quantitative and qualitative developments.
  • Stay informed about relevant engineering methods, tools, and technologies in the market.
  • Develop, improve, validate, and implement new and existing methods, tools, technologies, procedures, and protocols.
Your profile

To be considered for the Lead Engineer (Machinery and Piping) position, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical disciplines (e.g., Naval Architecture).
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in a similar leadership role.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and preferably also in Dutch.
  • Willingness to work in Kinderdijk and/or Krimpen aan den IJssel in the Netherlands.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Please note that for this position, candidates must reside in the Netherlands and hold a valid EU work visa to be considered.

  • A gross monthly salary between €5,600 and €8,300 + 8% holiday allowance (based on a fulltime working week).
