Job summary

Hanab ES in Zwolle seeks a Lead Engineer High Voltage (Primary Systems) to lead internal and external engineers from design to project delivery. You focus on primary HV components and supporting structures, including transformers, breakers and connections, while ensuring compliance with client specs and regulations.

You will guide the basic to detailed execution design, translate designs into plans, review docs, and drive quality checks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
• Knowledge of high-voltage components such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, or connections is a strong advantage.
• Proactive/entrepreneurial mindset with excellent communication and analytical skills.

Lead Engineer High Voltage (primair) – Zwolle

Hanab ES is the only EPC company in the Netherlands that covers the full chain of high-voltage engineering and construction—from laying underground and overhead high-voltage cables to designing and building substations for a wide variety of clients. Compensation: €4,343 – €7,062 (depending on experience) + 18% flexible budget (including holiday allowance) and a year-end bonus.

The team in the Zwolle region is growing rapidly to deliver tailored solutions to clients in the North and Central Netherlands. We have a total of 400 colleagues, 50 of whom are based in the Zwolle region.

Your Role as Lead Engineer High Voltage (Primary Systems)
Your focus lies in the area of high-voltage components (primary systems) and the associated structures required for installing and mounting these components. This includes high-voltage transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, current and voltage transformers, cable and/or overhead line connections, and all supporting structures.

You will lead both internal and external engineers and take full responsibility from the basic design phase through to execution and project delivery. Pretty exciting, right?

Your responsibilities include:

• Translating functional designs and requirements into concrete designs and project plans.
• Designing and verifying integrated solutions based on client specifications, technical standards and guidelines, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Preparing and reviewing technical documentation, drawings, calculations, and execution documents.
• Supporting the (Lead Engineer and) Technical Manager throughout the project phases — from basic design in the preparation phase to detailed execution design.
• Identifying and resolving design bottlenecks, reporting findings, and performing quality checks.

What Do You Bring to Be Successful?

• A completed bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
• Knowledge of high-voltage components such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, or connections is a strong advantage. You enjoy working with electrical networks (high voltage) and power engineering.
• Key competencies: a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset — you strive for the best results for both the project and your own development. Excellent communication skills are desirable, as well as strong analytical thinking and a results-oriented approach.

Our offer

Annual salary: ranging from €63.425,- to €103.133.-, consisting of:

• Gross monthly salary: between €4,343,- and €7062,- depending on your knowledge and experience.
• Flex budget: 10% of your gross monthly salary, which you can use flexibly — for example, to purchase additional vacation days.
• Year-end bonus: 3.7%.
• Vacation days: 24.5 days based on a full-time contract.
• ABP pension contribution: 27%, of which Hanab ES contributes 18.9%.
• Job-specific training: negotiable, with a training budget of €1,500.
• Public transport pass: 2nd class, also for private use if you commute by public transport.
• Sustainable employability budget: €500 gross per year, for example for a gym membership.
