Overview

Location: Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands

Role: Lead engineer - AI platform (interim) at Huxley. This role involves building a platform for AI employees to create and deploy their own AI tools. You will work in a fast-paced team, reporting to the Director of AI, to accelerate platform development.

Team and Focus

• Culture: Startup-like, entrepreneurial, fast-paced, highly collaborative
• Tech Stack: Golang, Python, TypeScript, React, Vue
• Focus: Building internal AI platforms and tools for portfolio companies

Day-to-Day Tasks

You lead AI platform development by coding features, solving technical challenges, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across teams to implement cutting-edge AI solutions. The team works on an internal productivity tool. The current direction is developing AI agents and workflows to streamline operations across the portfolio. You will work with several commercially available LLM models (OpenAI & Tropic, Stability AI) and integrate open-source AI models with your builds.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of AI platform features
• Guide and mentor engineers
• Solve technical challenges and optimize performance
• Collaborate with product/business teams
• 50/50 split between hands-on coding and team leadership

Requirements

• 10+ years in software development
• 5+ years in Golang (or strong OOP background in Kotlin/Java with ability to ramp up)
• Strong cloud experience (AWS preferred, Azure acceptable)
• Experience with AI systems (LLMs or automation projects)
• Hands-on GenAI experience is a plus, but passion and applied AI experience (even personal projects) are key
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

Background

• Experience in e-commerce, fintech, digital banks is preferred
• Proven ability to build stable, scalable platforms with real-world impact
