Job summary

EPAM Systems in the Netherlands seeks a Lead Data & AI Engineer to design and deliver advanced data solutions on cloud platforms. You will build scalable data pipelines, govern data quality, and enable ML feature engineering for analytics and intelligent applications in a hybrid work model.

You will lead architectures, collaborate with data scientists to deploy AI models, and drive reliability, security and cost efficiency across enterprise-scale data ecosystems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering with leadership experience.
• Advanced SQL for large-scale performance tuning.
• Proficient Python for data workflows.
• PySpark expertise for distributed processing.
• Databricks experience with Delta Lake and optimization.
• Azure Data Factory orchestration of pipelines (ETL/ELT).
• AI/ML pipeline development and production model integration.
• CI/CD for data/ML pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust data architectures using cloud-native technologies.
• Build large-scale ETL/ELT workflows to process heterogeneous datasets.
• Create data models optimized for AI/ML pipelines and advanced analytics.
• Develop streaming and batch pipelines leveraging tools like Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
• Operationalize ML solutions, integrating feature stores and model endpoints.
• Collaborate with data scientists to deploy and monitor AI models in production.
• Integrate GenAI-assisted development methods into data workflows for automation.
• Ensure data governance, lineage, cataloging and quality across platforms.
• Optimize platform performance and cost efficiency while ensuring observability.
