About the company
This organization is a large, established player with a strong focus on custom-made products, built and delivered to order. Pega is used across multiple domains as a BPM platform, with an emphasis on customer engagement. The internal demand organization has a strong voice in setting priorities, which calls for someone who can both build and convince. The organization works with several of its own development teams and is deliberately investing in further professionalizing its IT landscape.
Key responsibilities
In this role you're the technical and architectural point of contact for the Pega platform. You focus on how the Pega landscape is technically structured. The question of what role Pega plays within the wider application landscape sits with the Enterprise Architect.
- Critically shaping the technical Pega roadmap: continuing to deliver business value without creating unnecessary technical debt and knowing how to sell that internally. This also means providing counterbalance towards the business.
- Contributing to lowering the platform's total cost of ownership.
- Technically leading two scrum teams, made up of a mix of permanent colleagues and external specialists.
- Owning solution architecture. The lead developers on the teams work out the HLDs themselves; you keep an overview of the bigger picture.
- Assessing whether Pega remains the right choice for specific challenges, with an eye on cost.
- Proposing improvements to make the development process more efficient and enable faster delivery.
What the company is looking for
- Strong experience with Pega, both on a technical and architectural level. They are not looking for a senior developer, but for someone with solid experience in solution architecture and defining the technical roadmap for Pega.
- The ability to look beyond the platform itself: you're not a pure systems specialist.
- Experience balancing business value and technical debt over the longer term.
- Persuasiveness to sell your vision on the roadmap to a strong internal demand organization.
- Able to hold your own in conversations with both technical colleagues and the business.
- Experience further developing the platform, for example towards a more modern UI architecture.
