Qualifications

• Completed bachelor’s (HBO) in mechanical engineering or related field.

Are you our new Junior Mechanical Engineer? Do you have a passion for mechanical engineering and want to help build innovative technology that makes dairy farming smarter and more sustainable? Fullwood develops, builds and services robotic milking and farm technology systems for dairy farmers worldwide, giving farmers the reliability and flexibility they need to run efficient, sustainable operations while keeping cow comfort and welfare front of mind.

Your role

As a Junior Mechanical Engineer at Fullwood, you apply your engineering fundamentals to the design and development of our milking and farm technology products, under the guidance of a Teamlead Mechanical Engineering. You translate technical challenges into concrete mechanical solutions - from initial concept through to working prototype - and interact with colleagues across Product Management, Automation, Production and Purchasing to get there. You learn the trade in practice - starting with well-defined assignments and growing towards independent design work - supported by experiences colleagues and with plenty of room to develop quickly.

What you will do

You are involved throughout the entire design process, and your responsibilities grow as your experience does. Essential parts of the role:

• Preparation - you receive assignments from Product Management and your Teamlead, analyse the defined specifications and design requirements, and ensure customer and product requirements are systematically translated into workable technical solutions.
• Design - you translate design requirements into innovative and functional mechanical solutions, create 3D models and visualisations, and support your design choices with material selection and calculations (strength, force, tolerances).
• Technical investigation - you conduct investigations into materials, components and processes, and use good technical judgement, independent evaluation and ingenuity to devise solutions to design problems.
• Prototyping & testing - you help build and evaluate prototypes for manufacturability, ease of maintenance and production risk, generate test procedures and work instructions, identify design flaws, and feed test-phase findings back into the final design.
• Documentation & reporting - you prepare clear technical documentation and, where relevant, present results to your teamlead or colleagues.
• Continuous improvement - you keep your knowledge of the field up to date by researching new techniques, share these within the team, identify improvement opportunities in the process, and contribute to cross-departmental quality and innovation projects.
• Vendor input - on assigned projects, you may help evaluate whether a vendor or supplier can deliver the components or services a design calls for.

You report to the Teamlead Mechanical Engineering. You join a team consisting of a Mechanical Engineer and an Automation Engineer, working closely together in a pleasant, informal atmosphere. This role has no supervisory responsibilities; it’s a great next step for someone who wants to grow their design skills with senior engineers close at hand.

What you bring

Required

A completed bachelor’s (HBO) degree, complemented by knowledge of mechanical engineering: 0 - 5 years of relevant practical experience welcome (recent graduates included).

Basis knowledge of mechanical design, with an affinity for CAD software such as Inventor or SolidWorks, and PDM software.

Able to apply a working knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of mechanical engineering, with an understanding of related engineering fields.

Good hands-on abilities for building and assembling mechanical components and prototypes.

Good communication, organisational and technical writing skills; a good command of English, spoken and written.

You are curious, eager to learn, think in solutions, work accurately and in a structured way, and enjoy collaborating in a team.

Work experience in robotics and/or a technical product environment.

An affinity for agricultural technology.

What we offer

• A fulltime salary between € 3.700,- and € 5.100,- based on your experience.
• A one-year contract, with the aim of a permanent position.
