Job summary

YES!Delft is seeking a motivated starter to join our international operations team in Rotterdam. You will learn how ships behave at sea, prove it with data, and build Digital Twins for client fleets.

You’ll participate in onboarding, data quality checks, and client calls from day one, gaining broad exposure to the commercial side of shipping. The role offers full-time hours, strong growth potential, and collaborative coaching by senior consultants.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or Maritime Technology — recent graduate or up to 2 years' experience
• Genuine interest in ship hydrodynamics: resistance, propulsion, and why a vessel loses half a knot
• Affinity with data — Excel is a given, basic Python is a strong plus, and a willingness to learn our stack (Python, MongoDB) is essential. You do not need to be a developer
• You enjoy client contact and you can write: our deliverable is a report an owner may dispute, so clear, precise English matters more than it does in most engineering jobs
• Good social skills, good judgment, and a focus on quality
• Able to communicate in English, written and spoken. Dutch is an advantage, not a requirement
• Entitled to work in the Netherlands — EU citizens qualify automatically. Living here, or willing to move at your own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Learn how a ship behaves at sea and how to prove it with data
• Build and calibrate Digital Twins for vessels in clients' fleets
• Make defensible data judgments when sources disagree
• Support onboarding: account setup, vessel report integration and data quality checks
• Join client calls from day one to learn the commercial side of shipping
• Test new features and provide feedback to product development for the dashboard
