Job summary

Basic-Fit is seeking a (Junior) Financial Controller to join the Financial Control team in Hoofddorp. You’ll own parts of the monthly closing, implement improvements, and help scale our IFRS reporting across international entities.

You’ll collaborate with multiple departments, strengthen internal controls, and drive efficient, scalable processes while developing your skills in a fast-growing European company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance (HBO/WO).
• Strong expertise in R2R, GL accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience with IFRS and SAP S/4HANA; LucaNet preferred.
• Proficient in analyzing large data sets with MS Excel.
• Excellent English; French is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement process improvements to make finance operations efficient and scalable.
• Identify and resolve issues impacting the general ledger.
• Record journal entries, accruals, and IFRS 16 data across entities accurately.
• Prepare reconciliations and lead schedules for balance sheet and P&L.
• Support external audits and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate with Tax, Legal, AR/AP, and Business Control to strengthen internal controls.

This Is What Your Role Looks Like

Basic-Fit is growing rapidly, and our Finance department is going through various projects and changes, including process improvements and setting new policies and procedures.

As a (Junior) Financial Controller, you’ll be part of the Financial Control team (16 FTE): a talented, international team of quick-thinking finance professionals who produce high-quality reports while working closely with the business. You’ll take ownership of the correct and complete processing and reporting of part of our business, constantly improving the monthly figures and the process behind them. You’ll initiate improvements that make our financial processes more efficient, effective, and scalable. This is your chance to design, implement, and own new processes that help Basic-Fit scale to the next level!

Your Responsibilities

• Design and implement process improvements and document desktop procedures, making our finance organization more efficient and scalable.
• Proactively pick up business issues that impact the general ledger and evaluate them to find workable solutions.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of journal entries, accruals, and IFRS 16 rental contract information across multiple (international) entities.
• Create and review reconciliations and lead schedules for all balance sheet balances and relevant P&L accounts.
• Prepare reporting for the relevant authorities and support external audit requirements.
• Team up with Reporting & Tax, Legal, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Business Control, and other colleagues, and contribute to the further development of the Internal Control Framework, special projects, and ad-hoc analyses.

Additionally, we’re looking for someone with:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance (HBO/WO).
• Strong expertise in Record-to-Report (R2R), General Ledger (GL) accounting, financial reconciliations, month-end and year-end close activities, and strengthening internal controls.
• Proficiency in handling and analyzing (big) data sets in tools such as MS Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; French is a plus.
• Experience with IFRS and SAP (S/4HANA) & LucaNet is preferred.
• Knowledge of Tagetik/SoftCo rental and AP systems is a plus.
• The ability to interact with all departments and levels across the organization.
