Nance is hiring a Junior AI Product Developer to build user-facing features end-to-end, collaborating with senior engineers and founders. You’ll turn thin specs and direct user feedback into working software, prototype rapidly, ship to production, and learn how changes affect the product.
You’ll work on the agent itself, shipping improvements, and learning how to evaluate impact. This role is ideal for early-career engineers who want fast ownership and mentorship.
At Nance we’re looking for a Junior AI Product Developer to join our team.
Nance is an AI financial controller colleague: an agent that works across the whole financial stack, from accounting software like ERPs to broader business software like email and Slack. She helps finance teams and accountants get mundane tasks done and derives complex insights from diverse data sources. Our mission is to make Nance feel and operate like the best finance employee anyone has ever hired.
As a team we believe fast iteration can only happen in an environment with minimal process, individual agency and trust in each other’s work.
You’ll build user-facing product features end-to-end, working closely with senior engineers and the founders. That means turning thin specs and direct user feedback into working software, prototyping quickly, shipping to production, and checking whether it actually works. There’s no handoff: no waiting for a product manager to write the spec, and no separate team to throw a prototype over the wall to.
A large part of the product is the agent itself. You’ll ship improvements to what it can do, and learn how we evaluate whether a change made it better.
This is a role for someone early in their career who wants to grow fast. You’ll get real ownership from day one, with experienced engineers to learn from and review your work.
Work on the core capabilities of the Nance agent: the agent harness, tools and supporting features like memory management.
Help build evals that tell us whether the agent behaves the way it should, and experiment with new techniques for testing and observing agent behavior.
Take product features from idea to shipped across the full stack (React frontend, Python backend, Google Cloud infra), then instrument and iterate on them.
Sweat the details: UX, speed and polish are part of the job.
Use AI coding tools as a default part of your daily workflow.
0 to 2 years of professional software engineering experience. Strong graduates and self-taught engineers with shipped projects are very welcome.
You’ve built something with LLMs, at work or on the side, and you can tell us what worked and what didn’t.
Solid software engineering fundamentals. Experience with React, Python or cloud infra helps, but fundamentals matter more than knowing our exact stack.
Product sensibility: you care about UX, speed and polish, and you speak up when something doesn’t feel right.
You learn fast, take ownership and are comfortable figuring things out without detailed instructions.
Daily user of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex or similar) and enthusiastic about them as a way to build software.
Careful about correctness and data handling.
Fluent in English. Dutch is a plus, not a requirement.
Experience with financial data, fintech, or accounting/ERP systems.
Experience building eval harnesses, experimentation infrastructure, or A/B testing for AI features.
€45.000 to €55.000 gross per year including holiday allowance, depending on experience.
Equity in Nance, above the market average.
Visa sponsorship available.
Direct mentorship from senior engineers and the founding team.
The opportunity to join an incredibly fast-moving team and company.
Hybrid working and flexible hours.
