Job summary

Lely invites an enthusiastic HBO student to join an internship focused on researching and validating methods to estimate the state of charge and health of lead-carbon batteries used in robot systems.

You will compare estimation approaches from literature and perform experiments from low-cost setups to more capable configurations, analyze data, and present clear recommendations for integration into a future Lely robot, while working from the Lely Campus in Maassluis.

Qualifications

• Interest in battery technology, diagnostics and energy storage.
• Affinity with electronics, measurement systems and practical prototyping.
• Comfortable setting up experimental test equipment.
• Experience or interest in CAN and Modbus for data acquisition and diagnostics.
• Analytical mindset and curiosity to validate assumptions experimentally.
• Able to work independently with collaboration when needed.
• Good communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to literature research and comparative analysis of SoC/SoH estimation methods.
• Design and perform experiments to validate estimation approaches.
• Analyze data and compare theory with measured results.
