How can Project Managers spend less time on administration and more time on managing projects, risks and stakeholders? At Vanderlande Industries, Project Managers use a wide range of processes, templates, reports, SharePoint locations, Excel files and project tools. While these tools support project execution, the current landscape is fragmented. Information is often entered multiple times, transferred manually or adapted for different stakeholders. This creates unnecessary workload and increases the risk of errors.
During this internship, you will investigate how the current way of working can be made simpler and smarter. You will map the processes and tools used by Project Managers, identify duplication and manual work, and explore opportunities for standardization, automation and AI. Your research will result in practical improvement ideas for the short term and recommendations for the future ERP delivery system towards 2030. The key research question is:
‘How can Vanderlande reduce the administrative workload of Project Managers by simplifying processes, integrating tools and applying smart automation or AI?’
You will join Distribution Execution, a global and project-driven environment within Vanderlande Industries. The department delivers complex material handling and logistics automation projects for customers in the Distribution domain, with a strong focus on major Amazon projects in North America. You will work closely with Project Managers and colleagues from Planning, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Installation, Integration and Finance. The environment is international, hands-on and dynamic, giving you the opportunity to learn how projects are managed in practice and turn your findings into real improvements.
