Job summary

TNO seeks a master student to work on resource models for CNFs deployed on COTS hardware in a lab environment in the Netherlands. You will create, run and analyze CNF performance experiments using XDP-based UPFs and identify the main bottlenecks.

You will learn about system operation, benchmarking, and modelling while receiving supervision and a salary; this internship can lead to a MSc thesis and offers travel support and a laptop provided by TNO.

Qualifications

• Master student in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Basic skills in C/C++ and Python, with willingness to learn.
• Interest in Linux networking, XDP, and packet generation; support offered to learn.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy an experimental environment to obtain reliable performance measurements for CNFs on COTS hardware.
• Analyze results to identify key factors and KPIs for CNF resource modeling.
• Contribute to the development of a resource model predicting CNF performance under varying workloads.
