Job summary

FrieslandCampina Veghel invites an internship to study the feasibility of an aerobic treatment step in the existing wastewater flow. You will evaluate technologies, perform lab and pilot tests, and develop mass balance, sizing, and cost estimates to inform potential investments.

The 4-6 month internship offers guidance from process and wastewater specialists, real industrial impact, and an internship allowance aligned with FrieslandCampina policy. English is the reporting language.

Qualifications

• Higher professional education or university level is required.
• Studies related to Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Biotechnology, Water Technology or Food Technology.
• Interested in biological wastewater treatment.
• Experience with data analysis is a plus.
• Interest in laboratory and pilot-scale experimentation.
• Reporting language: English.
• Duration: 4-6 months.
• Independent, analytical, proactive and structured personality.

Responsibilities

• Literature study on aerobic wastewater treatment technologies and COD removal.
• Compare aerobic technologies: Activated Sludge, SBR, MBBR, MABR.
• Design and run lab-scale experiments to evaluate performance.
• Determine oxygen demand and aeration requirements.
• Assess impacts on COD removal and nitrification.
• Evaluate operational risks and integration with current processing.
• Prepare a conceptual design with mass balance and sizing.
• Develop CAPEX and OPEX estimates.
• Select preferred technology and provide recommendations.
