BMT is seeking an experienced Marine Incident Investigator to join our Technical Capability team in Rotterdam. You will conduct vessel inspections, investigate marine incidents, and provide independent advice to clients across the maritime industry.

The role involves working independently on a wide range of assignments across Europe and globally, with frequent travel to vessels, ports and terminals. Strong English communication and a maritime background are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferably from a Maritime University or equivalent education.
• Seagoing experience as Master Mariner, Chief Officer, or similar nautical role.
• Marine Incident Investigator experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Conduct vessel inspections and marine incident investigations.
• Investigate marine incidents, casualties and damage claims.
• Assess cargo-related incidents and operational issues onboard.
• Identify causes of damage and provide factual, independent advice to clients.
• Advise on loss mitigation, recovery actions, salvage options, and preventative measures.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports within agreed timelines.
• Build relationships with shipowners, insurers, P&I clubs, brokers and terminals.
• Support business development and identify new survey opportunities.
